DORIS DAY - Lullaby Of Broadway Screen successes helped enormously in bringing her vocal talent to public attention selling millions of records. Now happily retired to Carmel By The Sea in sunny California, Doris Day owes much of her success to the sparkling "girl next door" image that once provoked comedian Phil Silvers (I believe) to quip "I knew Doris Day before she was a virgin".
